Food for your Reception |

The time of the reception dictates what type of food you should serve. If your reception is held during a meal time, then you should serve a meal. If you don’t want to serve a meal, or can’t afford it, consider a tea time, cocktail time, or late-night dessert reception.
Consider a continental breakfast, with pastries and a variety of fruit , or a full breakfast, with pancakes and/or an omelet bar.
A buffet reception could include cold cuts, salads, cheeses, sandwiches, and desserts. Fruit, pasta and potato salads, fresh vegetables and dips are also possibilities.
Serve finger sandwiches along with a selection of desserts, such as petite fours, pies, and mini-cakes. Chocolates, nuts and mints would also be appropriate.
Serve a variety of hot and cold appetizers, along with cocktails.
Unless your wedding is very formal, the buffet style is a good
choice. A buffet usually offers a more flexible menu, and the
guests will be able to choose where to sit. If you choose a formal style, your caterer will probably offer a fixed menu of reception food choices. Many people will not enjoy some of the more exotic offerings, so try to keep it relatively simple.
In addition to the wedding cake, a dessert reception could include fruit dipped in chocolate, mini-cakes, cookies, nuts and other sweets. |
